Years ago, Marie Hilliard and her associate, John Ricks decided to buy a small real estate company in Big Bear Lake. As California grew, more and more families began to discover the natural playground of Big Bear Valley. Even though we're only a few hours away from millions of folks in the LA basin, we did remain a secret for many years. But now that secret is out, on the Internet.

When Marie bought the company, it was decided that it's original name, "Spencer", given to the company by the prior owners Jack and Vivian Spencer, would remain intact. In the early days, the company operated two offices with a handful of agents. As the popularity of the Valley grew, so did Spencer.

Spencer Real estate helped shape the Valley by developing environmentally sound subdivisions, working closely with the departments of Real Estate, the county and the state.

Here at Spencer, we value the family and do our best to make you feel welcome. In the Fall, we sponsor the Spencer Pumpkin Patch, when children from all over the Valley arrive early to pick a free pumpkin.

Yes, Marie has seen the Big Bear Valley grow from about 5,000 residents to the approximately 21,000 permanent residents of today. During most weekends in all of our four seasons, we have an average of over 5,000 visitors, all finding something fun to do.
